ABOUT US

The Stop the Violence Program is a newly formed non-profit organization with our office based out of Lumberton, NC however our efforts are focused on the lessening and at best eradication of various types of violence first within the Fairmont community. In addition to spreading awareness to promote prevention, the Stop the Violence Program is here to act as a support system for those families who are affected by various forms of violence, as well as a liaison between the community and law enforcement. Prevention and eradication of violence should be a shared endeavor between the community and law enforcement, where we are cooperatively working with each other.

Our CEO LaShawna Baker has been diligently doing things for families of the community, particularly children for years while. On her own prior to the inception of the organization she has enlisted the help of other community members and leaders to work alongside her as well. Never asking for anything in return, and only using her personal resources she has been a help and comfort to grieving families, provided opportunities for less fortunate children, provided financial assistance to those less fortunate, and has on her own been a liaison between the community and law enforcement.

“Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars…Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.
